Gel Resseca O Cabelo

Gel Resseca O Cabelo

O gel contains ethanol or isopropanol as a quick-dry solvent. When that alcohol evaporates, it pulls moisture from the hair shaft along with it. That's basic chemistry, nothing dramatic about it. The real problem isn't the gel itself but the concentration of alcohol and how often you're using it without compensating for the moisture loss. I've worked with hair stylists for over a decade and seen countless clients come in with what they call "gel damage." Nearly every case traces back to the same issue: cheap gel with high alcohol content, applied daily with no conditioning routine afterward. The hair doesn't just feel dry, it becomes brittle and snaps at the mid-lengths where the product concentrates during styling.

The workaround I recommend to my clients is straightforward. Choose a gel labeled "alcohol-free" or one where alcohol appears after the first three ingredients on the label, not before. Then follow every gel application with a leave-in conditioner or a light oil seal on damp hair. This usually takes about ninety seconds and prevents most dryness issues entirely. There's also a second factor people overlook. Some gels form a hard cast as they dry, and when you break that cast by scrunching or brushing, it can create micro-fractures in the cuticle layer. It's not actually drying the hair, but the mechanical stress of breaking a rigid cast repeatedly causes damage that looks identical to dehydration. A flexible-hold gel applied in a thinner layer avoids this completely and still gives good definition. If you're already dealing with dry or damaged hair, gel might not be the right product for your routine. Heavy protein treatments and deep conditioning two to three times a week will restore some moisture, but if you keep applying high-alcohol gel daily, you're essentially pouring water into a leaky bucket. In those cases, switching to a curl cream or a wax-based styling product with zero alcohol gives better results without the ongoing damage.
